Siemens Solar ships new line of marine solar power kits to West Marine

CAMARILLO, Calif., June 12, 2000 -- Siemens Solar, one of the world's leading manufacturers of solar photovoltaic cells and modules, shipped the first order from its new line of Solar Marine Power Kits to West Marine of Watsonville, Calif.

The Siemens Solar Marine Power Kits have been designed and engineered to include everything a boat owner needs for quick and easy installation. Each Siemens Solar Marine Power Kit includes a solar module, charge controller, mounting hardware, marine grade heavy duty wiring, and an installation guide.

The kits are available in a variety of power outputs - 50, 75, and 100 watts. Pricing begins at $549 for the 50-watt kit.

The Solar Marine Power Kit product line also includes expansion kits that allow additional solar panels to be used in conjunction with the Solar Marine Power kits to meet higher power consumption needs.

The new kits provide the following features and benefits:

  • Quiet battery charging, in many cases, eliminates the need for  on-board generators
  • Economical power when compared to a lifetime of shore power fees
  • Reliable performance because they are rugged, weather tested  and have no moving parts
  • Environmentally superior using sunlight instead of fossil fuels
  • Built to last with a 25-year limited warranty on the 50-, 75- and 100- watt solar panels and five years on the other system components
  • Easily expandable and virtually maintenance-free

Siemens Solar is the foremost supplier of solar modules for the U.S. Coast Guard for a variety of navigational aids such as buoys, channel markers, and lighthouses.
